Get to Know Julia Blackburn
Julia is a passionate, dedicated, warm-hearted animal lover and outstanding agent at RE/MAX Camosun in Victoria. Originally a prairie girl from Alberta, Julia made the move to Vancouver Island in 2013 to be close to nature, experience the vibrant island communities, and enjoy some milder winters, too!
It was in Victoria that Julia began her career in real estate. Starting up her business in a brand-new location proved challenging, but Julia was introduced to a wonderful network of RE/MAX professionals early on who supported her. She describes the process: “Starting real estate out here was definitely challenging and building a business does not come easy. But I was fortunate to find some incredible mentors early on. Being part of such an excellent brokerage helped prepare me for the challenges ahead and gave me the support and tools necessary to succeed. Just as important are the colleagues and friends I have made who offer endless encouragement and insight.”
Relationships and Community
It is no wonder that Julia was able to blossom as a REALTOR® in a city like Victoria. With her innate ability to understand and empathize with others, Julia can connect easily with all walks of life. “I am deeply caring and dedicated in all that I do which helps me earn trust early on in a relationship. Julia has found great joy and inspiration in her career. She conveys, “I love to be challenged and the field is anything but stagnant. You meet so many people and help navigate such monumental moments, which is quite an honour. To be a part of these milestones with your clients is incredibly rewarding.” Being a REALTOR® has also allowed Julia to travel Vancouver Island and become more acquainted with the geography and the communities that make it so special. “Through my experiences as an agent I have also been privileged to learn about so many different neighbourhoods and really get to explore southern Vancouver Island.”
Animal Advocacy
Julia has also found freedom in her career to invest into what matters most to her. A huge animal advocate, supporter of the SPCA, and co-founder of a small dog rescue in Bolivia, Julia has invested into animal shelters and welfare programs through her work as a REALTOR®. She states, “I am deeply passionate about animal welfare and advocacy. I like to incorporate fundraising contests, campaigns, and donations to local animal rescues into my business. It can also be a fun and engaging way to interact with my clients and social media audiences.”
Nature and Self-Care
In her spare time, Julia loves exercising, being outdoors, and practicing self-care. “I like to unwind through exercise (dance, bootcamp, yoga, literally anything). It forces me to be present and step away from my phone. My hobbies are hiking and being around animals and nature. I take every chance I get to go on a hike or just be outside. Nature is the best way to recharge my batteries and reset my mind.”
